The Hollywood honchos behind ‘American Sniper’ omitted a final scene
that would have depicted Navy SEAL Chris Kyle’s gory death after the
soldier’s widow Taya, Kyle urged them to leave it out, the show’s writer
revealed.
The film stars Sienna Miller and actor Bradley Cooper and is directed by Clint Eastwood.
Screenwriter Jason Hall said he wrote five scenarios on how to approach the scene, but the team eventually decided not to use them following a request by Taya, Kyle’s widow, reported the New York Daily News.
“Five days after Chris was murdered, (Taya Kyle) called and said, ‘This is going to be how my children remember their father, so I want you to get right’,” Hall said.
“In the end, I think we felt that this was a film about Chris’ life
and not about his death. We also wanted to be careful not to glorify the
guy who did it,” Hall added.
‘American Sniper’ tells the story of Chris Kyle who was claimed to be the most lethal sniper in the US military history.
He died in February 2013 after he and a friend were shot by a troubled veteran.
The trial is still underway.
