Candice Swanepoel goes topless for the special as she playfully argues with Adriana Lima about who is the 'sexiest' Angel

It's an argument that can never truly be won.

But Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima could not help but playfully banter about who is the sexiest Angel during the Victoria's Secret Swimsuit special.

During the TV extravaganza Candice, 26, certainly appeared to be the winner as she went topless while standing on an idyllic beach in Puerto Rico.

Wearing nothing but pink bottoms, the South African beauty struck a sultry pose as her blonde locks fell in sexy tangles.

Then the VS swimsuit favourite, who has been the cover girl for the swimsuit catalog more than any other Angel, had some playful banter with Adriana.

'You are the sexiest,' the Brazilian said.

The two supermodels then giggled and seemed to agree that they both were the sexiest swimsuit models in the world.

During another segment, Candice explained why she loves posing in beachwear: 'I'm able to turn into a vixen.'

'I like to live in my bikini, it's almost like I'm naked.'

Earlier in the special, Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge took the plunge as they were taken by photographer Russell James to Palominito Island in Puerto Rico for an underwater photoshoot.

But the weather did not completely cooperate as rain and thunder threatened to shut down their shoot, forcing the lingerie models to pose in shallow water.

Before calling it quits, Alessandra - the resident underwater pro - expertly held her breath and posed submerged in the sea for a series of incredible photographs.

Lily, 29, wore a tiny black swimsuit as she did her first underwater shoot as the stormy weather closed in on them.

After their underwater excursion they both agreed that they were now 'Mermaid Angels'.

Quite pleased with their new moniker the pair of gorgeous ladies let out a giggle in unison.

Speaking about the significance of the VS Swimsuit special, Behati gushed: 'It doesn't get any better than this; If I were to compare this to anything - it is probably the Super Bowl!'

Photographer Russell James explained his vision behind a particular shoot with the model: 'Today we are on Coco Beach.

'The shape of these boulders is complimentary to the shapes of the models.'

Hot! Once the show cut to the nighttime concert held on an idyllic beach it soon became one of the most high voltage music videos with all of the VS Angels dancing to the beat

Lily then had to get over her fear of heights by standing atop a giant boulder.

'I've never loved land so much!' she said after finally getting down from the massive rock.

The special also featured Behati touring the Puerto Rican city of San Juan where she took photographs and learned some local dances.

Later in the show: Behati and Lily went head-to-head against Alessandra and Candice in a volleyball game inspired by Top Gun

Behati swayed and danced along with Lily, both of whom wore Daisy Dukes, as bonfires lit up the rockers.

Later in the show Behati and Lily went head-to-head against Alessandra and Candice in a volleyball game inspired by Top Gun.
